I grew up in the Midwest (WI, IL, MN, NE, IA) and we moved about every 5 years or so. At 10 years old I received my first computer, and knew from then on what I wanted to do.
Before starting high-school we had moved to Iowa. After graduation I attended a local community college where I met my wife. This was a busy time in my life. For 6 years I worked full time at First Data Corp. while taking a full class load and remaining involved in campus bible study groups and church activities.
In 93 Danielle and I were married. This was the year of the great floods making it extra memorable. Two years later I graduated with a BS in Computer Science from the University of Iowa. After graduation I worked for Rockwell/Collins for a year where I worked on an in house engineering/maintenance tool for avionics and represented there interests at OMG meetings.
Our first child, David, was born and I started working for a dot com called Stockpoint in 98. I stayed there for 4 name changes/mergers over the course of 5 years. We also had 3 more children, Deborah, Rebekah and Joshua. I was promoted from Engineer to Manager and then to Director.
Although I loved my job there was a strong desire to get back into the technology so I focused on architecture whenever possible. In early 04 the company was purchased by CBS Marketwatch.
